Upgraded evolution of clamps

Oct 24,2025

Disadvantages: The scope of mediation is small, there are too many specifications that are difficult to manage, and the steel wire is prone to cutting the rubber hose, which has now been basically eliminated.

1、 Double wire clamp

Invented by Japanese people and widely used in Japanese power systems, it is economical and affordable.

Disadvantages: The scope of mediation is small, there are too many specifications that are difficult to manage, and the steel wire is prone to cutting the rubber hose, which has now been basically eliminated.

2、 American (British) worm clamp

The commonly used form of power system in the UK and the US adopts band locking to avoid the risk of double wire cutting the rubber hose. At the same time, the adjustment range is larger than that of double wire, reducing the number of specifications and making management convenient.

Disadvantage: Perforated straps can easily damage the surface of the hose after being locked, as shown in the following figure:

3、 German worm clamp

In the German form, based on the American style clamp, the clamp adopts a non perforated form to avoid damage to the surface of the rubber hose caused by perforation of the clamp. At the same time, the edge of the clamp is flanged, which not only increases the strength of the clamp but also reduces the damage to the rubber hose caused by the edge of the clamp after tightening. It is also the mainstream form of worm clamps in the current market. The clamp of Iridium company adopts the German form, and the reference standard is also German standard DIN3017.

Disadvantages: It cannot automatically compensate and is prone to leakage in low-temperature and high-altitude areas, which is a common problem with worm clamps. The water circuit used in cooling systems and the intercooler pipeline in cold and hot exchange systems have extremely high leakage in low-temperature areas, and the low-temperature hydraulic test cannot maintain pressure. In practical applications, it is limited to oil circuits with smaller diameters.

4、 Spring clamp

Due to the lack of automatic compensation in ordinary turbine worm clamps, it is easy to cause pipeline system leaks in low temperature environments. Therefore, spring clamps with automatic compensation have emerged in the market:

This type of spring clamp can automatically contract at low temperatures, lock the pipeline, and has good leak prevention effect. It is widely used in household cars.

Disadvantages: 1. Small adjustment range, different pipe diameters require different specifications, so there are many models and management is inconvenient. 2. It cannot be self-locking, which works well on low-power gasoline family cars, but has risks when used on high-power diesel power. 3. The application effect is good on small diameter fuel systems, but the sealing effect is poor on large diameter water and gas pipelines. 4. The size requirements for the connection between rubber hoses and steel pipes are extremely strict, and if the tolerance is exceeded, good sealing cannot be achieved.

5、 Radial spring clamp

Adding radial springs to the clamp of the worm gear solves the problem of the worm gear clamp not being able to compensate. It is generally used in the waterway of household low-power cars and turbochargers, and has a good effect, compensating for the poor sealing of spring clamps on large pipe diameters.

Disadvantages: Small compensation amount, poor sealing effect in high-power diesel vehicle pipelines.

6、 T-shaped clamp

The clamp with spring compensation function, which was born to solve the sealing of the water, gas, hydraulic and other pipeline systems of high-power diesel vehicles, is widely used in diesel powered equipment due to its good economy and high destructive torque.

Disadvantages: 1. Small adjustment range, requiring the design of a large number of specifications and models for the pipeline, which is difficult to manage, select, and store. 2. Wide strap, resulting in low pressure on the hose and insufficient locking force, while occupying too much installation space. 3. Cannot process small pipe diameters below 45mm. 4. Poor sealing performance. Due to the flanging treatment on both sides of the transition bridge, the strap does not deviate when tightened, but the consequence is difficult deformation, that is, it cannot deform with the decrease of clamping range. There will be sealing dead corners at both ends of the transition bridge, as shown in the following figure:

The sealing dead corners at both ends of the transition bridge mentioned above have insufficient locking force on the rubber hose, resulting in leakage at low temperatures. The following is a verification of the low-temperature hydraulic sealing test, which showed leakage at both ends of the transition bridge.

This is due to the structure of the T-shaped clamp, which mainly occurs in winter and low temperature conditions in northern markets.

7、 Gasket clamp

Gasket clamp is a new generation of turbine worm clamp with automatic compensation developed on the basis of previous generations of clamps. It retains the advantages of previous clamps and avoids most of their disadvantages. It is currently an ideal clamp on the market and has a large number of applications in the European and American markets.

Our company's gasket clamps have the following advantages:

1. The clamping range has a large adjustment amount, which can reduce the number of specifications and facilitate selection and management.

2. It can automatically compensate and has good anti leakage effect, and can be used in water, gas, and oil circuits.

3. The perforated part of the strap has a protective layer to prevent damage to the rubber hose.

4. High destructive torque and high product safety.

5. The strap is only 16mm, suitable for multiple installation locations in pipelines.

Disadvantages of gasket clamps: 1. High cost, basically more than twice that of T-shaped clamps of the same specification. 2. Pipe diameters below 35mm are not applicable.

8、 Spiral clamp

The latest generation of automatic compensation clamps developed by our company, with the world's first invention patent number ZL 2014 10462057.3, avoids the shortcomings of the previous seven generations of products and retains the advantages of previous generations, mainly due to its lower cost compared to gasket clamps.

Add the following features:

1. Automatic compensation to prevent leakage.

2. The compensation pipe diameter covers a large range (20mm-1000mm), which is larger than gasket clamps.

3. Visual torque design (insufficient installation torque may cause gaps in the spring, excessive torque may cause deformation of the clamp seat)

4. High cost-effectiveness, replacing traditional T-shaped clamps will not increase costs, while replacing gasket clamps significantly reduces costs.

5. Meet all installation requirements.

6. The bolt head is compatible with ordinary turbine clamps and does not require frequent replacement of installation tools, resulting in high installation efficiency.
